The Cleveland Orchestra Announces 2024 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Concert

The Cleveland Orchestra has announced the 44th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.

The event, scheduled for Jan. 14, 2024 at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Concert Hall at Severance Music Center, will feature performances by The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Chorus and violinist Amaryn Olmeda. Daniel Reith and Dr. William Henry Caldwell conduct. Danita Harris will serve as emcee.

Audiences will be hear a program of music by such composers as Johnson, Hailstork, Beach, Ravel, Allison Loggins-Hull, and Block. It aims to commemorate 60 years since the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Service in the Arts Awards will be presented as part of the concert.

In addition to the concert there will be a “CommunityOpen House & Day of Music” on Jan. 15, 2024 at Severance Music Center. Participants will experience a wide range of events by Black Storytellers and Musicians throughout the day.
