The Atlanta Opera to Present ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’

By Francisco Salazar

The Atlanta Opera is set to present Benjamin Britten’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

The opera will be presented at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre between March 2 and March 10 with a live stream on March 8.

The production will be directed by Bruno Baker and will be conducted by Louis Lohraseb. The cast will include Sir Iestyn Davies, Liv Redpath, Meg Marino, Luke Sutliff, Susanne Burgess, Kameron Lopreore, and Melody Wilson.

In a statement, General Director Tomer Zvulun said, “Programming A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Atlanta is long overdue. Stunningly, Benjamin Britten, one of the leading composers of the 20th century, has been surprisingly underrepresented in Atlanta’s professional opera. This magical production, developed as an original creation for our company, will correct this historical wrong in a spectacular way. Our designers have created an enchanting place of fantasy and delight. We are energized to cement our position as one of the top 10 companies in the US with a cast of international superstars such as Davis, Redpath, Burdette, Marino, and Sutliff. Conductor Louis Lohraseb’s Atlanta debut adds to the excitement. This is a performance that should not be missed.”
