The Atlanta Opera Bounces Back After Hurricane Zeta Damages

By Logan Martell

In a display of community resilience, The Atlanta Opera has successfully recovered from damages to its Big Tent set up in the wake of Hurricane Zeta, which passed through the Atlanta region last Thursday. The company is currently midway through its run of performances of “Pagliacci” and “The Kaiser.”

The company shared the experience in a video that captures some of the damages, including several tents being torn down, one of which destroyed a clavinet in the process, and the exposure of A/V and electrical equipment. Fortunately, the company came together as a whole and was able to restore its set up while only missing one night of performances.

Among the upcoming events in The Atlanta Opera’s “Under the Big Tent Series” is its “Mezzo Extravaganza” on Nov. 10, and “Crossroads – A Variety Show” on Nov. 15.
