The American Opera Projects Release Three Music Videos for Veterans Day

By Francisco Salazar

The American Opera Project’s AOPTV free streaming service has announced the addition of three music videos of songs from the chamber opera “Letters That You Will Not Get: Women’s Voices from the Great War.”

The three videos will be available beginning Nov. 11.

The videos were made in early fall of 2020 with the artists self-recording in lockdown, and premiered last year in a series of online events.

The chamber opera “Letters That You Will Not Get: Women’s Voices from the Great War” was composed by Kirsten Volness and written by Kate Holland and Susan Werbe. It gives voice to American, British, European, Asian, African, and Caribbean women affected by war and sets the writings of women in World War I to music.

The work, which is scored for an all-women ensemble of six singers and string quintet, will have its staged world premiere in May 2022 in New York City in a production by AOP.
