The Teatro La Fenice is set to present Handel’s “Rinaldo” to kick off the fall season.

The theater will revive the legendary staging by Pier Luigi Pizzi from 1985. The staging has been performed at 20 major opera houses and this time the production will star Teresa Iervolino in the title role.

The cast will also include Leonardo Cortellazzi, Francesca Aspromonte, Maria Laura Iacobellis, Andrea Patucelli, Tommaso Barea, and Shuxin Li. Federico Maria Sardelli will lead the production which opens on August 31 and runs through Sept. 4, 2021.

“Rinaldo” will be followed by a production of “Rigoletto” starring Luca Salsi in his signature role, Ivan Ayon Rivas, and Claudia Pavone. Dalibor Jenis will also bring his interpretation of the title role to the legendary theater.
