Teatro Verdi di Pisa Announces 2021-22 Season
By Francisco SalazarThe Teatro Verdi di Pisa has announced its 2021-22 season featuring opera, ballet, and theater. For the purposes of his article we will only focus on the operatic performances.
The season will open with Verdi’s “La traviata“ in a new production by Enrico Stinchelli.
Performance Dates: Sept. 11 & 12, 2021
Enrico Stinchelli directs a new production of Verdi’s “Rigoletto.”
Performance Dates: Sept. 18 & 19, 2021
The Verdi trilogy closes out with “Il trovatore“ in a production by Enrico Stinchelli.
Performance Dates: Sept. 25 & 26, 2021
Georges Bizet/Peter Brook’s “La tragédie de Carmen” will follow in the season.
Performance Dates: Nov. 13 & 14, 2021
Piazzolla’s 100th birthday will be celebrated with a production of “María de Buenos Aires.”
Performance Dates: Dec. 4 & 5, 2021
Stefano Vizioli directs a new production of Massenet’s “Werther.”
Performance Dates: Jan. 15 & 16, 2022
Nino Rota’s “Napoli milionaria” will be performed as the Progetto LTL Opera Studio
Performance Dates: March. 19 & 20, 2022
Händel’s “Giulio Cesare” closes out the season in a new production.
