Teatro San Carlo Announces Cast Change for ‘Il Barbiere di Siviglia’

By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro San Carlo has announced a cast change for its production of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.”

The company noted that Aleksandra Kurzak will no longer sing the role of Rosina and will be replaced by Jessica Pratt.

The change comes as Kurzak is at the Royal Opera House replacing Anita Rachvelishvili and Ermonela Jaho in productions of “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Pagliacci.”

Pratt recently performed at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in a production of “Ariadne auf Naxos.” She is a frequent guest at Opera Australia, the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.

She joins a cast that includes Xabier Anduaga, Davide Luciano, Carlo Lepore, and Riccardo Fassi. Riccardo Frizza conducts the production by Filippo Crivelli.

“Il Barbiere di Siviglia” opens on July 6 and runs through July 16, 2022.
