Teatro Regio di Parma to World Premiere ‘Gran Teatro Reinach’

The Teatro Regio di Parma will world premiere “Gran Teatro Reinach” to inaugurate the 2021-22 season.

The work by drammaturg Sergio Basile will be directed by Marco Castagnoli and will be conducted by Gianluca Martineghi. The work features music by popular operettas arranged by Alessandro Palumbo.

The world premiere will feature excerpts from “La vedova allegra” (Franz Lehàr, 1905), “Cin ci la” (Virgilio Ranzato, 1925), “Il paese dei campanelli” (Carlo Lombardo, Virgilio Ranzato, 1923), “Al Cavallino bianco” (Ralph Benatzky, 1929), “Scugnizza” (Mario Pasquale Costa, 1922), “Addio giovinezza!” (Giuseppe Pietri, 1911 circa), “Il Paese del sorriso” (Franz Lehàr, 1923), “Ballo al Savoy” (Paul Abraham, 1930 circa), “L’acqua cheta” (Giuseppe Pietri, 1920 circa), and “Orfeo all’inferno” (Jacques Offenbach, 1858).

The production will star Alfonso Antoniozzi, Giuseppe Verzicco, Eleonora Buccarini, Lucrezia Drei, Valentino Buzza, Claudia Urru, Manuel Amati, Marco Bussi, Chiara Tirotta, Massimo Fiocchi Malaspina, Filippo Lanzi, and Thomas Rizzoli.

The work was commissioned by the Teatro Regio di Parma with the intent of recreating the atmosphere of the theater that was destroyed.

The production is set to be performed on Dec. 11 and 12, 2021.
