Teatro Regio di Parma Presents ‘Il Piccolo Principe’
By David SalazarThe Teatro Regio di Parma is in the midst of presenting “Il Piccolo Principe” as part of its Regio Young program.
The opera, by Enrico Melozzi and Stefano De Luca is inspired by the iconic work by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It will be directed by De Luca and stars Ralitsa Bogdanova, Luca Criscuoli, Cristina Neri, Francesco Leone, Raffaele Tassone, Andrea Ariano, and Giovanna Iacobellis. They are joined by the Orchestra Notturna Clandestina and the Children’s Choir of the Teatro Regio di Parma.
“As a gift to young spectators remains the wonderful possibility of telling a famous story through poor materials, using what is usually thrown away: empty wrappers, packages of useless objects, which are filled again with voices, music, imagination, poetry,” said De Luca in an official press release.
The production opened on Nov. 21 and runs through the 23rd. The opera debuted in 2017 and was dedicated to Gian Maria Piccini, the sound engineer at the Teatro Regio who passed away prematurely.
