Three theaters from the Region Emilia-Romagna have closed until March 1.

The Teatro Regio di Parma, Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, and I Teatri Reggio Emilia have closed due to the Coronavirus. The companies issued statements on social media stating, “in compliance with measures being put in place across the Emilia-Romagna region aimed at restricting the spread of Coronavirus, the Theaters are closing to the public until March 1.”

These are the latest theaters in Northern Italy to close following the Teatro alla Scala, Fondazione Teatro Fraschini in Pavia, the Teatro Sociale in Bergamo, Teatro Grande di Brescia, Teatro Sociale di Como, and the Teatro Comunale Ponchielli, among others.

The announcements come after Italy’s Health Minister Roberto Speranza announced “restrictions in the Northern Italy which included the closure of public buildings, limited transport, and the surveillance and quarantine of individuals who may have been exposed to the virus.”

Over 100 cases have been confirmed with 17 in Veneto, two in Emilia-Romagna and one case each in Lazio and Piedmont. The majority of the cases have been reported in Lombardy.
