By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro Regio di Parma has announced a cast change for its inaugural performance of “Il Trovatore.”

The company noted that Rossana Rinaldi will not be able to perform the opening night due to indisposition on Sept. 24. As a result, the role of Azucena will be performed by Enkelejda Shkoza. The mezzo joins a cast that includes Anna Pirozzi, Angelo Villari, and Simon Mechlinski.

Shkoza has performed at the Royal Opera House, Metropolitan Opera, New York, La Scala, Milan, Paris Opéra, Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris, La Monnaie, Brussels, Dresden Semperoper, Vienna State Opera, Teatro Real, Madrid, Opéra national du Rhin, Teatro di San Carlo, Genoa and Monte Carlo Opera.

“Il Trovatore” is set to be directed by Elisabetta Courir. Rinaldi and Silvia Dalla Benetta star in the final three performances.
