Teatro Real To Continue Performances Without Audience

The Teatro Real de Madrid has announced that it will continue to perform without audiences.

The Theater announced that following the government’s regulation to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the company will showcase the new production of “Achille in Sciro” via the company platform “My Opera Player.”

All performances from March 17 through the 25 will be performed via the livestream platform. The March 26 and 27 performances are still pending based on the situation and the regulations implemented by the government.

The theater also announced that all ticket holders will be allowed to watch the opera for free via the “My Opera Player” platform. The opera is also scheduled to be broadcast on TVE and ARTE on March 27.

The Teatro Real did however suspend performances of “Los Nibelungos,” Francisco Viñas concert, Flamenco Real, Jazz Real, and guided tours.

The “Historia de Babar” performances were also postponed until May.

“Achille in Sciro” is set to star Andrea Mastroni, Grigory Shkarupa, Tim Mead, Christopher Lowrey, Francesca Aspromonte, Francesca Lombardi Mazzuli, Sabina Puértolas, Leonor Bonilla, Franco Fagioli, Jake Arditti, Kenneth Tarver, David Alegret, Juan Sancho, and Krystian Adam.
