Teatro Real & Gran Teatre Del Liceu Performances Affected by Power Outage

The Tearo Real de Madrid and Gran Teatre Del Liceu have been affected by the power outages in Spain.

The Teatro Real announced that due to the widespread power outage, the dress rehearsal for “The Tale of Tsar Saltan” is canceled.

Meanwhile, the Barcelona theater said, the performance of “La sonnambula” scheduled for today, Monday, April 28th due to the general blackout, postpones it to May 9th at 7:30pm. Tickets will be valid for this new date and if the ticket holder is unable to attend, the theatre will offer a gift voucher for the value of the tickets.

Additionally, the Palau de la Musica Catala also canceled its performance of  “Il Giustino.”

According to the associated press, there was a major blackout that brought Spain and Portugal to a standstill halting subway and railway trains, cutting phone service and shutting down traffic lights and ATM machines for the 50 million people living in the area. Spanish power distributor Red Eléctrica said that restoring power fully to the country and neighboring Portugal could take six to 10 hours.
