By David Salazar

The Teatro Real de Madrid has announced that it is preparing to reopen its theater on July 1 with a performance of Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

Per an official press release on the company’s website, the organization’s leadership met to discuss, among other things, the details of its reopening and its 2020-21 season, which will be announced on June 2, 2020.

Few details, including casting or if this would be a concert or production, were revealed about the planned reopening set for July 1, but the company’s press release does note that the necessary provisions and safety protocols will be implemented.

The Teatro Real de Madrid is the latest company to announce its intention to reopen this summer. However, few have moved forward with performances of operas, instead opting for concert performances of different varieties.
