The Teatro Real de Madrid has announced a cast change for “La Traviata” on July 20, 2025.

The company said that due to illness, Nadine Sierra has had to cancel the performance. As a result, Sabina Puértolas will sing the title role.

Puértolas has performed around the world at leading theaters including the Teatro Real, Teatro de la Zarzuela, Teatro Verdi de Trieste, ABAO Bilbao Opera, Teatro Verdi de Salerno, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Ópera de Oviedo, and Ópera de Tenerife.

She is set to join a cast that includes Juan Diego Flórez as Alfredo and Gëzim Myshketa as Germont. Henrik Nánási conducts the production by Willy Decker.

Sierra returns to the production by July 23, 2025.
