Teatro Real Announces Cast Change for ‘Un Ballo in Maschera’

The Teatro Real de Madrid announced a cast change for its production of Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera.”

The company announced that Sara Blanch will sing the role of Oscar replacing Isabella Gaudí in performances scheduled on Oct. 3, 6, 11, and 14.

Blanch is a rising star who has perofrmed at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Wildbad Opera Festival, Peralada Festival, Teatro Regio di Torino, Opera de Oviedo, and Chorégies d’Orange. This is season she is set to appear at the Donizetti Opera Festival in “La Fille du Régiment.”

The soprano joins a cast that includes Ramón Vargas, Sondra Radvanovsky, Silvia Beltrami, and George Petean. “Un Ballo in Maschera” is conducted by Nicola Luisotti and is set to be directed by Gianmaria Aliverta.
