Teatro Real Announces Cast Change for ‘Hadrian’

The Teatro Real de Madrid has announced a cast change for its production of “Hadrian.”

The company noted that Santiago Ballerini will sing the role of Antinous replacing Xabier Anduaga.

Ballerini has performed with the Atlanta Opera, Canadian Opera Company, Opera San Antonio, Teatro Colon, Caramoor, and Teatro de la Zarzuela. His repertoire includes the music of Donizetti, Bellini, Verdi, and Mozart.

The tenor joins a cast that includes Thomas Hampson in the title role, Ainhoa Arteta, Santiago Ballerini, Rubén Amoretti, Vanessa Goikoetxea, Alejandro del Cerro, Vicenç Esteve, Gregory Dahl, Pablo García-López, Josep-Ramón Olivé, and David Lagares.  Scott Dunn conducts.

“Hadrian” premieres at the Teatro Real on July 27, 2022.
