The Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari has announced the postponement of the run of Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera “The Golden Cockerel” due to COVID-19.

The opera was slated to run between Oct. 30, 2020, and Nov. 5, 2020.

The operatic masterwork was supposed to star Aleksei Tikhomirov, Mikhail Gujov, Dmitry Khromov, Dmitry Yankovskiy, Grigoriy Soloviev, Sergej Toptygin, Kseniya Viaznikova, Larisa Kostyuk, Ivan Volkov, Mikhail Seryshev, Lidiya Svetozarova, Yulia Sherbakova, and Maya Barkovskaya.

Evgeny Brazhnik was signed on to conduct the production by Dmitry Bertman.

The opera house did not specify new dates for the run of Rimsky-Korsakov’s operatic masterpiece. The latest postponement comes after a COVID-19 outbreak at the Teatro Petruzzeli during the performances of Verdi’s “Falstaff.”
