On Sept. 14, the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari will host the Italian premiere of Zygmunt Krauze’s two – act opera, “Bona Sforza.”

The opera tells the story of Bona Sforza d’Aragona , a 16th- century queen of Poland. The presentation of a contemporary Polish opera as part of the permanent repertoire of a major Italian opera house is a rare and exceptional event on the international music scene.

Krauze’s work will be directed by Michał Znaniecki and will star Anna Maria Chiuri, Valeria Sepe, Nikoletta Hertsak, Rory Musgrave, Deniz Leone, Lorrie Garcia, Saverio Pugliese, Davide Giangregorio, Eleonora Filipponi, and Nicolò Balducci. Piotr Sułkowski will conduct.

The opera will run for four performances through Sept. 20, 2026.
