Teatro Nuovo, the innovative company at the leading edge of the Bel Canto revival, has announced its 2024 summer season.
The company will present first present “Anna di Resburgo,” the opera by Carolina Uccelli. This will mark the modern restoration of a forgotten milestone.
The cast includes soprano Chelsea Lehnea as Anna, tenor Santiago Ballerini as her exiled husband Edemondo, and baritone Ricardo José Rivera as the usurper Norcesto. They are joined by soprano Elisse Albian and tenor Lucas Levy as Etelia and Olfredo. Musical direction is shared by keyboardist Lucy Tucker Yates and violinist Elisa Citterio.
Performance Dates: July 20, 2024 at Kasser Theater – Montclair State University & July 24, 2024 at Rose Theater – Jazz at Lincoln Center
The second opera will be Bellini’s “I Capuleti e i Montecchi.” Simone McIntosh and Alina Tamborini star alongside Robert Kleinertz, Kyle Oliver, and Michael Leyte-Vidal. Musical direction will be shared by Associate Artistic Director Jakob Lehmann on violin and Will Crutchfield on fortepiano.
