By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro Municipal de Santiago has named a new General Director.

The theater announced that Carmen Gloria Larenas will become the first-ever female General Director replacing Frédéric Chambert, who resigned from the position after three years in the position.

A former ballerina and director of the Teatro del Lago, Larenas stated, “I am honored with the new position and understand the new responsibility I have.”

Larenas worked with the company as a press director for eight years and also danced with the company for 10 years. Additionally, Larenas has worked as Advisor to the Chilean Chapter at the el National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington and has also worked as director of the Corporación Cultural de Lo Barnechea COBA.

Larenas will assume her new position in November and will be working with Chambert in October for a steady transition.
