Teatro Mayor To Present “Indigenismo”
By Francisco SalazarSoprano Carolina Plata and pianist Luis Gabriel Mesa Martínez are set to bring their recital “Indigenismo” to the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo.
The recital incorporates Latin American songs that use Indigenous elements. The program will include songs in Quechua, Náhuatl, Mapudungún and Spanish, which are composed during the 20th century. It will also feature composers from Perú, México, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, and Venezuela.
“Indigenismo” has been performed at a number of important national and international theaters including at the VI Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara de Barranquilla, the Gran Teatro Nacional del Perú, and at the XIII Barcelona Festival of Song in Spain.
Soprano Plata is an international singer who has performed in opera, recital, and oratorio in Canada, Mexico, Spain, Colombia, and the United States among others.
Pianist and Musicologist is currently the director of music and coordinator of musicology at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá.
The concert will be on May 3, 2018 at 8 p.m. at the Teatro Estudio Julio Mario Santo Domingo.
