Teatro Massimo di Palermo to Stream ‘La Traviata’ with Pretty Yende

On July 9, the Teatro Massimo di Palermo will stream Verdi’s “La Traviata” on its YouTube page.
The performance is set to star Pretty Yende in her company debut as Violetta and David Astorga as Alfredo. Simone Piazzola rounds out the cast as Germont while Michele Spotti conducts. Ludovico Rajat directs the semi-staged production.
Yende has performed the role of Violetta at the Paris Opera and Wiener Staatsoper and is set to reprise the role in Vienna and at the Teatro San Carlo. Meanwhile, Astorga has performed the role of Alfredo in Tenerife while Piazzola has sung Germont at the Arena di Verona, Royal Opera Muscat, and Bayerische Staatsoper, among others.
“La Traviata” will also be performed on July 11, 2021 at the Teatro di Verdura.
