Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto Announces Dates & Jury for International Singing Competition
By David SalazarTeatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto has announced that its International Singing Competition, formerly the European Community Competition for Young Opera Singers, will take place February 25–28, 2026, at the Teatro Caio Melisso in Spoleto.
The jury will be chaired by conductor Donato Renzetti and includes soprano Maria Agresta, artist manager Saverio Clemente, Teatro Lirico Sperimentale Artistic Director Enrico Girardi, and music critic Giancarlo Landini.
Under the long-standing motto “If you dare, you’ll debut,” the competition continues Teatro Lirico Sperimentale’s mission—active since 1947—to discover and train young vocal talent. Winners are invited to participate in a two-year educational program that culminates in professional stage debuts.
Enrollment is now open to sopranos, tenors, and countertenors under age 32 as of January 1, 2026, and to altos, baritones, and basses under age 34. Eligibility extends to citizens of EU member states and additional countries listed in the official announcement.
