Teatro La Fenice Cancels Opening ‘Turandot’ Performance Due to Strike
By Francisco SalazarThe Teatro La Fenice has canceled its opening night performance of “Turandot” on August 30, 2024.
The company said that due to the announcement of a strike by the trade unions and RSUs of the La Fenice Theater Foundation, the performance of “Turandot” will not take place.
The company will contact ticketholders, who will be refunded.
The other performances will be held as scheduled on Sept. 3, 8, 14, and 18.
The Puccini opera is set to star Saioa Hernandez in the title role who replaced Maria Josè Siri due to indisposition. The cast includes Michele Pertusi, Roberto Aronica, Selene Zanetti, Paolo Antognetti, Valentino Buzza, and Simone Alberghini. Francesco Ivan Ciampa conducts the production by Cecilia Ligorio. The production includes the Franco Alfano ending which was written after Puccini’s death.
