Teatro La Fenice Announces Cast Change for ‘La Traviata’

The Teatro La Fenice has announced a cast change for its production of “La Traviata.”

The company said that due to illness Ekaterina Bakanova will take over the final performances on Nov. 24, 27, and 30 replacing the originally scheduled Marina Monzò.

Bakanova had already sung the first performance and took to social media and said, “Breaking News! I take over the whole Traviata production at Teatro La Fenice! My further performances will take place today, 27&30.11! My heart is full of happiness and recognition to this gorgeous beloved Opera House, which has been always my Alma Mater.” 

Bakanova recently performed “Manon” in Torino and is set to perform “Carmen” in Rome and “Cosi fan tutte” in Metz.

The soprano joins a cast that includes Francesco Demuro and Nicola Alaimo. Diego Matheuz the production by Robert Carsen.
