Teatro Grattacielo & Columbus Citizens Foundation to Present ‘Cristoforo Colombo’

Teatro Grattacielo has announced a special concert performance of Franchetti’s opera “Cristoforo Colombo” on Oct. 16, 2021 at the Columbus Citizens Foundation in New York City.

The concert, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m., will feature Joe Lodato in the title role with Sarah Rose Johnson in the two roles of Isabella de Aragona and Iguamota. Other cast members include Hyunho Cho as Don Fernando Guevara, Carlos Adrian Hernandez as Don Rolando Ximenes, Shanley Horvitz as Anacoana, and Pedro Sequera as Diaz.

Filippo Ciabatti will perform at the piano and is responsible for music preparation.

The performance will be presented in collaboration with the Columbus Citizens Foundation, the Camerata Bardi Vocal Academy, and Mexico Opera Studio.

“Cristoforo Colombo” premiered in 1892 at the Teatro Carlo Felice and has been presented around the world. However, this performance will feature the NYC premiere for the opera.
