Teatro di San Carlo Cancels ‘La Traviata’

The Teatro di San Carlo in Napoli has announced that it is canceling concert performances of Verdi’s “La Traviata” on October 27 & 28, 2020, due to technical reasons.

However, the opera house has confirmed that the concert presentations of the opera on October 24 & 25, 2020 will be performed.

The cast for the concert performances on Oct. 24 & 25, 2020 includes Albina Shagimuratova and Nino Machaidze in the role of Violetta Valéry, Francesco Demuro and Ivan Magrì in the role of Alfredo Germont, and Giovanni Meoni in the role of Giorgio Germont.

Stefano Ranzani will conduct.

The Teatro di San Carlo is currently preparing to present Puccini’s “La Rondine,” which opens on Oct. 16 and runs the 18th. It will also showcase productions of “La Bohème” and several concert performances to close out 2020.
