Teatro dell’Opera di Roma to Open 2020-21 Season with Filmed ‘il Barbiere di di Siviglia’

The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma has announced that it will open its 2020-21 season with a filmed version of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.”

The company announced that the new production by Mario Martone will be performed without an audience and will be streamed on Rai 5 on Dec. 5 and on New Year’s eve.

Viriginia Raggi, President of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma Foundation said, “We return to the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma thanks to this new production which will allow artists to perform and audiences to see from home. I am very proud that we will be able to move forward in this way with our 2020-21 season.”

Daniele Gatti will conduct the new production with a cast that will include Andrzej Filończyk in the title role, Ruzil Gatin as the Count Almaviva, Vasilisa Berzhanskaya as Rosina, Alessandro Corbelli as Don Bartolo, and Alex Esposito as Don Basilio.
