Teatro dell’Opera di Roma to Host Concert for Ukraine

On April 8 at the Nuvola dell’Eur, the Orchestra del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma will present a concert for Ukraine.

Conducted by Leo Hussain, the benefit concert will be organized by EUR Spa and will be transmitted on Rai Radio3. The funds obtained from the concert will be given directly to the Red Cross in Italy that is working in response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.

Roberto Gualtieri, Mayor of Roma and President of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma said, “Culture is the Universal language of peace. Culture will reaffirm our closeness and our support to the Ukrainian people, who continue to suffer and see their rights violated.”

The musical program will showcase Stille Musik from the Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov. There will also be a screening of “Lessons of Darkness” by Werner Herzog with the orchestra playing its music live. The score features music by Richard Wagner, Edvard Grieg, Sergej Prokof’ev, Arvo Pärt, Giuseppe Verdi, Franz Schubert, and Gustav Mahler.

The concert will include artists from the “Fabbrica” Young Artist Program del Teatro dell’Opera, Agnieszka Jadwiga Grochala, Irene Savignano, and Rodrigo Ortiz. Musical soloists includes Vincenzo Bolognese e Francesco Malatesta (violini), Koram Jablonko (viola), Andrea Noferini (violoncello), Antonio Maria Pergolizzi (pianoforte).
