Teatro dell’Opera di Roma Opens Summer Festival with ‘Rigoletto;’ Livestream on Rai 5

The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma will open its summer festival with a new production of Verdi’s “Rigoletto.”

The new production will be conducted by Daniele Gatti and directed by Damiano Michieletto in collaboration with Indigo Film. The historic production, which will be staged at the Circo Massimo, will follow all sanitary regulations to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and will allow for social distance. A maximum of 1,400 audience members will be allowed and there will be four different entrances to allow for social distancing.

The production will open on July 16 and is set to star Roberto Frontali in the title role,  Iván Ayón Rivas as Duca di Mantova, Rosa Feola as Gilda, Riccardo Zanellato as Sparafucile, and Martina Belli as Maddalena.

The opening night performance will be transmitted on Rai 5 with Francesca Nesler directing the telecast. There will also be performances on July 18 and 20, 2020.
