Teatro Comunale di Ferrara Teams Up with COM2 for ‘Cantante 5.0’

By David Salazar

The Teatro Comunale di Ferrara has partnered with COM2, a training organization accredited by the Emilia Romagna region, to launch “Cantante 5.0,” a free training program leading to the Regional Qualification of Singer.

The program is approved by the Emilia Romagna region and co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus 2021 2027.

In addition to training new vocal artists, the program aims to build a direct link between training and the theater’s professional activity, with participants evaluated for possible involvement in a production during the theater’s 2027-28 opera season.

The course will focus on Italian vocal tradition, technique, repertoire, musicality, diction, interpretation, and stage presence, with an approach geared toward the practical demands of theatrical production. COM2 is responsible for the design, organization, and delivery of the program, while the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara participates as an artistic partner, contributing to both the course structure and the evaluation of participants.

The selection process will involve conductor Leone Magiera, and auditions for “Cantante 5.0” will take place at the theater on Sept. 21, with an additional date of Sept. 30 if needed.
