Teatro Colón to Stream ‘L’Italiana in Algeri’ this Weekend

By Tano Factotum

The Teatro Colón will stream Gioachino Rossini’s “L’italiana in Algeri” on its digital platforms on Sunday, Dec. 6 starting at 8 p.m. local time in Argentina (GMT -3).

This performance, dating from the 2018 season, features mezzo-soprano Florencia Machado as Isabella, tenor Santiago Ballerini as Lindoro, baritone Omar Carrión as Taddeo and bass Ricardo Seguel as Mustafà, the Bey of Algiers.

The company’s orchestra and chorus were under the baton of Italian conductor Antonello Allemandi. Andorran director Joan Anton Rechi sets Rossini’s sparkling history in the 1940’s. The new production was a co-production with the Quincena Musical de San Sebastián and the San Lorenzo del Escorial festival.

The streamed performance will be available on the company’s official website, Youtube Channel, as well as the Teatro Colón and Gobierno de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires individual Facebook pages.

This is the latest opera to be featured online. The Teatro Colón has streamed numerous operas, ballets, and concerts every Sunday throughout the last eight months.
