The Teatro Colón de Bogota in Colombia is set to present Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas” on Sept. 14 and 15, 2019.

The production by Pedro Salazar is set to star Monica Danilov and Andrés Silva in the title roles. The production will also star Meliza Metzger, Mónica López, Claudia Grenier, Mónica López, Valeria Bibliowicz, Luis Mora, Emilio Angola, Juliana Morales, Matilde Acevedo, Andrés Gaitán, David Agudelo, and David Suárez.

The production will be part of the English opera cycle, which is also set to include Britten’s “The Turn of the Screw.”

Danilov recently performed the opera at the Universidad de los Andes and a recital in Ghana. She has performed at the Teatro Mayor, Cairo Opera House, Museo Nacional de Bogotá, Teatro Metropoliano de Medellín, Pablo Tobon de Medellin, and Teatro Colsubsidio de Bogotá. She is set to sing the title role of Maria de Buenos Aires in October.
