The Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires has appointed Jan Latham-Koenig as its Music Director.

Latham-Koenig is the founding Artistic Director of the Britten-Shostakovich Festival Orchestra and has been Chief Conductor of the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow. He studied at the Royal College of Music in London and started his career as a pianist.

He has conducted at the Wiener Staatsoper, where he became a permanent guest conductor. He has also been the Music Director of both the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg and Opéra National du Rhin and has also led the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.

General Director of the Teatro Colon Jorge Teleman said in a press conference that Latham-Koenig will be instrumental in leading various operas and orchestral concerts during the 2022-23 season.
