Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires Names Alejo Pérez New Music Director

The Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires has named Alejo Pérez the new Music Director. The conductor will assume the new position in 2026.

The news was announced by the Cultura de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Gabriela Ricardes, and General Director Gerado Grieco.

In his new position, Pérez will conduct two productions and three concerts during the 2026 season.

Pérez is a well-known conductor who has been the Music Director of the Flemish Opera in Belgium and has also collaborated with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Wiener Staatsoper, Semperoper Dresden, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma,  Teatro Real de Madrid, and the Paris Opera. He has conducted music by Verdi, Mussorgsky, Wagner, Prokofiev, Debussy, Shostakovich, Mozart, and Richard Strauss.
