The Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires has announced a cast change for its performances of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore.”

The company noted that Olesya Petrova will sing the role of Azucena, replacing Anita Rachvelishvili.

Petrova recently performed the role of Amneris at the Arena di Verona. She has performed at the Royal Opera House, the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Real, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bolshoi Theatre, San Diego Opera, and Gran Teatre del Liceu, among others.

She is set to join a cast that includes Anna Netrebko, Yusif Eyvazov, Fabián Veloz, and Fernando Radó. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts the performances which are set to be held between August 11 and 20, 2023.
