Teatro Cervantes de Málaga Adds One Performance Of ‘Otello’

The Teatro Cervantes de Málaga has added a performance of “Otello.”

The theater announced that due to popular demand, there would be a third performance of Verdi’s masterpiece.

The performance will be held on May 1, 2019 with subsequent performances on the third  and fifth of May. The cast will include Jorge de León in the title role, Carlos Álvarez as Jago, and Rocío Ignacio as Desdemona. Marco Guidarini is set to conduct the performances with the Filarmónica de Málaga and Alfonso Romero will direct the production.

The performances will mark De Leon’s role debut as the Moor, while it will see Alvarez return to Jago, which he has dominated for years. De Leon has dominated the spinto repertoire for the past years singing numerous “Tosca” and “Aida” productions, as well as “Turandot.”

Meanwhile Alavrez is one of the leading baritones in the world who has sung Verdi, Bel Canto and Zarzuela to great acclaim.
