Teatro Carlo Felice to Present Brahms German Requiem

By Francisco Salazar

On Nov. 27, the Teatrco Carlo Felice is set to present the Coro dell’Opera Carlo Felice Genova in Brahm’s German Requiem.

The soloists will be soprano Sofia Pezzi and baritone Tiziano Tassi as well as pianists Antonella Poli and Patrizia Priarone. Claudio Marino conducts the masterful score in the London version.

Brahms began composing the Requiem in 1865 and the piece premiered in 1869 in Leipzig. A year later the composer created an alternate version for London in which the orchestra is replaced by piano.

This season the Teatro Carlo Felice is set to present a production of Verdi’s “La Traviata” and Nino Rota’s “Il cappello di paglia di Firenze” as well as “Falstaff” and “Carmen,” among others.
