Teatro Amilcare Ponchielli Announces 2022 Season

The Teatro Amilcare Ponchielli in Cremona, Italy has announced its 2022 season.


The season opens with Puccini’s “La Faniculla del West” with Rebeka Lokar as Minnie, Angelo Villari as Dick Johnson, and Sergio Vitale as Jack Rance. The cast also includes Didier Pieri, Andrea Concetti, and Valdis Jansons. Pietro Rizzo conducts the production by Andrea Cigni. 

Performance Dates: Jan. 21 & 23, 2022

The company will present the world premiere of Roberto Scarcella Perino and Mark Campbell’s “A Sweet Silence in Cremona.” The work was commissioned by New York University, Casa Italiana Zerilli – Marimò, and NYU Florence and is a coproduction with the Fondazione Teatro Ponchielli and Center for Contemporary Opera (NY).

Performance Dates: May 8, 2022

Sunday Afternoons

The company will present Lehàr’s “The Merry Widow” in an adaptation by Corrado Abbati.
