Teatro alla Scala to Stream ‘Simon Boccanegra’ with Luca Salsi

The Teatro alla Scala TV is set to livestream Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra on Feb. 14, 2024.

The performance will star Luca Salsi in the title role alongside Ain Anger, Roberto De Candia, Andrea Pellegrini, Eleonora Buratto, and Charles Castronovo. Lorenzo Viotti will conduct the new production by Daniele Abbado.

“Simon Boccanegra” was presented in its final form at La Scala in 1881 after a thorough revision by the composer. It would not become a stable feature of the repertoire until it was restaged by Gianandrea Gavazzeni in 1965. It was later staged by Giorgio Strehler to inaugurate the 1971-1972 Season and in 2010 by Federico Tiezzi.

“Simon Boccanegra” is set to run through Feb. 24, 2024.
