By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro alla Scala is set to stream Bellini’s “Norma” on La Scala tv.

The stream will be showcased on July 4, 2025, and will star Marina Rebeka in the title role, Freddie De Tommaso as Pollione, Michele Pertusi as Oroveso, and Vasilisa Berzhanskaya as Adalgisa. Fabio Luisi will conduct the new production by Olivier Py.

“Norma” has not been presented at the Teatro alla Scala since 1977, when it was conducted by Gianandrea Gavazzeni and starred Montserrat Caballé. The opera was first performed at the legendary house in 1831 with Giuditta Pasta, Giulia Grisi, and Domenico Donzelli and was later revived by Maria Callas, who sang it on Piermarini’s stage in 1952 and 1955.

“Norma” opens on June 27 and runs through July 17, 2025. The opening performance will be broadcast on Rai Radio 3.
