By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro alla Scala has set to perform Davide Livermore’s new film “The Opera!”

The work by Livermore and Gep Cucco is inspired by the myth of Orpheus and will be shown on Jan. 19, 2025.

The film stars Valentino Buzza, Mariam Battistelli, Erwin Schrott, Fanny Ardant, Vincent Cassel, Caterina Murino, Rossy de Palma and Angela Finocchiaro. It also included an orchestra conducted by Plácido Domingo and Fabio Biondi, costumes by Dolce & Gabbana and Mariana Fracasso, and sets by Giò Forma and Cristiana Picco.

“The Opera!” made its world premiere this past fall at the 2024 Rome Film Festival.

Livermore is a known opera director who has directed productions of “Attila,” “Macbeth,” “Tosca,” “Turandot,” and “Don Pasquale” at the Teatro alla Scala.
