By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro alla Scala has rescheduled Aleksandra Kurzak’s recital.

The company announced that the new date for the soprano’s recital would be on May 4, 2020.

The Teatro alla Scala was forced to postpone the recital scheduled for Feb. 23, 2020 due to the spread of the coronavirus. The company announced this past weekend that “the Teatro alla Scala’s performances are suspended in relation to the spread of the coronavirus as a precautionary measure pending the provisions of the competent authorities.”

The company is set to reopen on March 1, 2020.

The Teatro alla Scala was one of the many theaters in Northern Italy, which was forced to cancel performances and close its doors due to the outbreak. Among the other theaters that canceled performances are the Teatro la Fenice and Teatro Regio di Parma.

Kurzak next performs at the Royal Opera House in a production of “Pagliacci.”
