Teatro Alla Scala Confirms Placido Domingo For 2019-20 Season

The Teatro alla Scala has confirmed that Placido Domingo will perform during his 50th-anniversary gala.

The company told the European press that “Placido will perform his scheduled performances during the 2019-20 season.”

The news comes after the Teatro Real de Madrid confirmed the tenor would perform in a revival of Verdi’s “La Traviata” this upcoming season. It also comes after the Philadelphia Orchestra and San Francisco Opera fired the tenor for alleged accusations regarding sexual harassment.

The LA Opera has opened an investigation, which is being monitored closely by the Metropolitan Opera, where Domingo is scheduled to sing the title role in Verdi’s “Macbeth” and join superstar soprano Anna Netrebko for the first time on the stage of the famed theater.

Domingo’s gala at the Teatro alla Scala is scheduled for Dec. 15, 2019 and will feature Saioa Hernandez, Jorge de Leon, and Ferrucio Furlanetto.
