Teatro Alla Scala Announces Two Cast Changes For ‘Roméo Et Juliette’

The Teatro alla Scala has announced two cast changes for its Jan. 21, 2020 performance of Gounod’s “Roméo et Juliette.”

The company announced that due to indisposition Damrau will not perform. As a result, Vannina Santoni will takeover the title role.

La Scala also announced that Marina Viotti, who is performing Stephano, will not take part in the performance and will be replaced by Annalisa Stroppa.

This season Santoni will perform at the  l’Opéra de Lausanne, Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Capitole de Toulouse, and l’Opéra de Saint Etienne. This performance will mark her Teatro alla Scala debut.

Stroppa has performed at the Teatrop alla Scala over the years and this season she is set to perform at the Bayerische Staatsoper and Teatro di Carlo de Napoli, among others.

“Roméo et Juliette” is set to star Vittorio Grigolo and Nicolas Testé and will be conducted by Lorenzo Viotti.
