Teatro alla Scala Announces Concert for Peace

By Francisco Salazar

The Teatro alla Scala has announced a concert for peace.

The performance will be held on April 4 with Riccardo Chailly conducting the orchestra and the theater Choir in Rossini’s Stabat Mater. The concert will be dedicated to the population affected by the conflict in Ukraine and will feature soloists Rosa Feola, Juan Diego Flórez, and Alex Esposito.

With the concert for peace, the theater and the artists express their firm condemnation of war and their solidarity to the victims of the senseless violence.

The company also announced that all the artists involved will participate for free and the proceeds will be given to the Fondazione di Comunità Milano Onlus and to the Italian International Red Cross.

The concert is the latest in a series of Concerts for Peace that have been announced throughout the world. The Metropolitan Opera, the Berlin State Opera, the Hamburg State Opera, and Bayerische Staatsoper have also announced concerts to fundraise for the people of Ukraine.
