Teatro alla Scala Announces Cast Change for ‘Guillaume Tell’

The Teatro alla Scala has announced a cast change for its production of Rossini’s “Guillaume Tell.”

The company said, “We inform you that the role of Mathilde in ‘Guillaume Tell’ is entrusted to Salome Jicia instead of Marina Rebeka, forced to withdraw from the production due to health reasons.”

Jicia has performed worldwide including Poland, Georgia, and Berlin as well as in Italy. Her repertoire includes the works of Rossini, Mozart, Donizetti, Puccini, and Verdi.

The soprano is set to join a cast that includes Dmitry Korchak, Michele Pertusi, Nahuel Di Pierro, Evgeny Stavinsky, Luca Tittoto, Brayan Ávila Martinez, Paul Grant, Dave Monaco, Catherine Trottmann, Géraldine Chauvet, and Huanhong Li. Michele Mariotti conducts the new production by Chiara Muti.

“Guillaume Tell” opens on March 20 and runs through April 10, 2024.
