Tchaikovsky Competition Announces Vocal Winners

The Tchaikovsky Competition has announced its 2019 winners in the vocal competition.

In the women’s competition, Maria Barakova from Russia won the First Prize and Gold Medal, while the Second Prize and Silver Medal went to Aigul Khismatullina from Russia. Third Prize and Bronze Medal went to Maria Motolygina from Russia, while Fourth Prize and Diploma was awarded to Angelina Akhmedova from Uzbekistan and Oksana Mayorova from Russia.

In the men’s competition, the First Prize and Gold Medal was given to Alexandros Stavrakakis from Greece, with Second Prize and Silver Medal awarded to Gihoon Kim from the Republic of Korea. The Third Prize and Bronze Medal was awarded to Migran Agadjanyan from Russia and the Fourth Prize and Diploma went to Ankhbayar Enkhbold from Mongolia.

The new vocal prize in memory of Dmitri Hvorostovsky was handed to Vladislav Kupriyanov.

The jury consisted of Sarah Billinghurst Solomon(Jury Chair), Eva Wagner-Pasquier, Evamaria Wieser, Edita Gruberova, Susan Graham, Charles MacKay, Mikhail Petrenko, Matti Salminen, Jonathan Friend, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Albina Shagimuratova, and Neil Shicoff.
