Des Moines Metro Opera has announced its 2023 Festival season.

The season opens with “Carmen.” Taylor Raven stars in the title role alongside tenor Matthew Cairns. Kelly Kuo conducts.

Performance Dates: June 30 – July 23, 2023

Christian Van Horn and Sara Gartland star in “Bluebeard’s Castle.” Kristine McIntyre direct with David Neely conducting.

Performance Dates: July 1 – 22, 2023

Prokofiev’s “The Love for Three Oranges” will be directed by Chas Rader-Shieber with David Neely conducting. Jacob A. Climer designs costumes.

Performance Dates: July 8 – 21, 2023

Susan Kander and Roberta Gumbel’s “Dwb (Driving while Black)” will open the 2^nd Stage Series.

Performance Dates: July 8 – 21, 2023

 Zach Redler and Jerre Dye’s “The Falling and the Rising” will also get a company premiere in a new production.
